01’s Finalists in the Minuteman Flames Spring ClassicApril 25th, 2009Congratulations to the 2001 Mite Major Boston Icemen who had a successful weekend in their first tournament for spring 2009, securing a spot in the finals of the Flames Spring Classic before dropping a hard fought game against the Shamrock Elites 6 – 4. Round Robin victories over the Minuteman Flames (6-4), Connecticut Yankees (5-3) and Westchester Express (8-3) were highlighted by timely scoring, tough defense and strong goaltending. The team looks forward to the next tourney, the Warrior Meltdown, May 28-31 in Montreal. 96 Boston Icemen vs Russian White BearsApril 23rd, 2009The 96 Boston Icemen had a great opportunity on Wednesday night to play against the 96 Russian White Bears. Although the language maybe different, the game is the same. It is always a great experience for our local players to play against kids from other countries. The Russian White Bears are in the United States playing hockey at the New England Sports Center.96 Boston Icemen 6 Russian Bears 196 Dynamic participate in Spring Fling ClassicApril 20th, 200996 Dynamic kicked off the spring/summer season participating in the Minuteman Spring Fling Classic at NESC. In round robin play, Dynamic went 2-1 with wins over Northstars (6-1) and DU Selects (8-2). The loss was to UNB V-Red Prospects (5-1). Taking the 4th seed, Dynamic faced the 1st seed VF Selects in the semi finals, losing 4-3 in OT. Playing for 96 Dynamic: (goaltender) Richie D'Ortenzio, (forwards) Nicholas Adamsons, John Laurito, Chris Olivera, Brandon Borges, Mark Etherington, Cullen McNally, Tom Koopman, Cody Todesco, Tom Munichiello and (defensemen) Chris Callahan, John McLean, Billy Sweezy, Dante Flori, Jack Rogers and Pierce Cunneen. 2001 Icemen participate in the CT Yankees TournamentJune 13th, 2008The newest and youngest Icemen team hit the ice for the first time June 13-15, 2008 participating in the CT Yankees Tournament at STR in Stamford, CT. The 01's were off to a great start Friday morning winning their first game 13-7 over the LI Ducks, the powerful scoring of forwards Nolan Whitlock, Tommy Harty, Jake Dunlap and Nolan Fitzgerald gave these mites their innagural win. Saturday brought another win over the NE Generals 6-5. This game saw strong performances from Aidan Curran, Trey Bourque and Zach Garneau. Putting points on the board also were Matty Powers and Tyler Young. Preston Nerris and Patrick Vetter were a mainstay on defence, and goalie Cole Chingris put in a solid performance between the pipes. The weekend came to a close Sunday with a loss in the Semi-Finals to the eventual 2001 division tournament champs, the NJ Revolution. Despite the loss the rookie Icemen displayed a solid team effort and impressive skill in their first tournament experience. The 2001 team looks forward to a full round of tournaments in the spring of 2009.
